Meet Maggie and Timmy! They're a fun, down to earth couple who decided to have a Mexican destination wedding in Riviera Maya. Much like the two of them, their wedding day was calm and relaxed, and everything came together perfectly!
That brings us to their proposal story that Maggie shared with us.
"Timmy and I dated for years and I knew we were going to be together. We live on a farm and he had given me the job of checking the chicken eggs as my daily chore. It was just an ordinary day and we drove down to the chicken coop and I jumped out to collect my eggs. When I walked into the coop and looked into the first laying box there was a beautiful ring and an egg with the words "marry me?" He was behind me when I turned around ready to endure my excitement!"
From the first day of wedding planning, Maggie and Timmy knew they wanted to have a destination wedding, and Mexico seemed to be the obvious choice.
"We wanted to get away and have a vacation, while at the same time keeping the wedding small and intimate and not let ourselves be overwhelmed with wedding hype and decisions. We had an intimate beach ceremony and the reception was an outdoor, rooftop venue overlooking the resort. It was our dream and it turned out perfect as we celebrated and danced the evening away."
As many destination wedding locations are already beautiful, Maggie and Timmy decided to keep the decor simple and stuck to a classic beach theme.
"The scenery itself would be the decor. The mood was relaxed as we gathered on the white sandy beach with the turquoise water subtly crashing behind us. We were surrounded by all the people that loved and supported us. I decided to use a coral color for our bridesmaid/ groomsmen. I let the bridesmaids choose their own dresses. Timmy wore white linen and I carried white roses. The colors really accented the natural beauty of this Mexico wedding."
Maggie's favorite moment from their wedding day happened at the wedding ceremony.
"It was when I walked down the steps with my father to meet my handsome groom and then I saw all the people that I love there with us, ready to celebrate our love and share in our special moment."
Maggie advises new brides to, "Do what you and your fiancé want when it comes to making wedding decisions but don't get caught up in the details... They really don't matter in the end!"
Here at Captured in Frames, we couldn't agree more! A wedding should be unique to the couple, and at the end of the day, the only thing that really matters is saying "I do".
Maggie also added, "Get a videographer! They truly capture parts that can be easily missed by photographers."
