Keep It Custom

Having been in the wedding business for 8+ years, Jimmy and I have seen weddings of all shapes and sizes. We've been a part of intimate 20 guest weddings, and we've been a part of extravagant 800 guest weddings. We've seen the traditional, and the nontraditional, and while some couples only need a few hours to celebrate, others need a few days. For Huyen and Thomas, the latter is true, and we loved every second! On the day of the white dress ceremony, Huyen and her bridesmaids got up at 3am to start their day, just about the time Thomas and his groomsmen were heading to bed ;). After their morning wedding ceremony, they spent the day with family and friends, taking pictures and prepping for the next day.

They following morning they took part in a tea ceremony. Some hours and a few dress changes later, Huyen and Thomas were full swing into their choreographed first dance which lead into their epic EDM heavy reception. Check out their wedding film below!

Cheers!

Chicago Bound

I introduce May + Kirby, otherwise known as #kirbaybay2015. I can't even express our appreciation to May and Kirby for allowing us to be a part of their wedding day. We seriously had an epic time capturing their special moments!

From our first Skype meeting, I knew their wedding would be fabulous. May and Kirby are two of the most inspiring, kind, and overall exciting people to be around. Of course they would host their wedding at an awesome Chicago venue!

Their ceremony and reception were held at the Ravenswood Event Center. The ceremony and reception actually took place in the Atrium & Loft spaces, which are gorgeous industrial, naturally lit spaces, perfect for weddings. As I'm sure you've gathered, I'm obsessed with this venue! :)

In addition to the perfect venue, May and Kirby had a guest list of a lifetime. Friends and family traveled from all over the world to watch them exchange their (ugh! so epic) personal vows. They had us laughing and crying, along with everyone else in attendance. We truly couldn't be more excited for these two!

Congrats to May and Kirby!

New Trails

We meet again! First, if you haven't caught on yet, let me start by saying how much we adore outdoor weddings. Second, we also love a good winery. Put them together and you have a match made in heaven!

We were stoked to find out that Caitlin and Jason were hosting their big day at Villa Marie in Maryville, Illinois. Villa Marie is one of our favorite wineries in the area and it's the perfect location for an outdoor ceremony.

Jason started the day with golfing a few miles down the road, while Caitlin did a little bridal prep in the hotel. After they were both dressed and ready, they had their first look in the vineyards. Not only is a winery perfect for an outdoor ceremony, but the vineyards make for an excellent first look!

If you're unfamiliar with the concept of a first look, let me explain. A first look is when a bride and groom see each other before the ceremony. This gives the couple an opportunity to calm their nerves before they say "I do", in addition to having a little extra time to spend together on their otherwise hectic day. We often encourage our couples to have a first look, especially when they think they might be anxious the day of the wedding. The saying everything else falls away when you see each other is often true, but it's nice to have that moment privately. It's hard to share your thoughts and feelings throughout the rush of the day, so recently couples have started scheduling time to do just that.

If you're considering a first look, watch Caitlin and Jason's same day edit below for inspiration.

Enjoy!
